Four that were checked and left off

Two are not Seward operators. One ranks well for this town and never says Seward on any of its own pages — ranking for a place and being of it are different things, which is why every domain here had to mention the town on its own site before it counted. The other did not answer at all, recorded as unreachable rather than quietly dropped, because a site being down today and a business not existing are not the same fact.

Two are real Seward FareHarbor operators with no Google rating this site could read. That is the only reason they are not above. This page is ordered by rating, and an operator with no rating cannot be placed in it without either inventing a position or implying a poor one. Neither is honest, so they are named here instead: nothing was found against them, and a missing listing is a gap in what could be read rather than a mark against the business.

More were excluded before that stage — businesses selling wildlife tours rather than fishing, charter companies based in other towns that sell a Seward trip, and guides and lodges that write about fishing without running it. Each is recorded with its reason in the site's data rather than dropped silently.

Almost everyone here books through the same system

Fourteen of the twenty take bookings online and twelve of those run FareHarbor, which is why this page can be filtered to one platform and still list most of the fleet. Two run Xola. Four state a founding year on their own site: 1974, 1982, 1991 and 1997. That is the operator's own claim rather than a verified record, and it is still more than most towns publish.

How to compare two operators yourself, today

Ask both the same four questions. Which fish does the trip target, and for how long? How long is the run before anybody drops a line? What does the boat provide? And what is extra?

That last one catches people out here. Fish processing and shipping are usually separate businesses from the charter, and the trip planner lists what else to budget for. A licence is yours to buy too — see the licence rule, which is the reverse of Florida's.

Why "best" is not a word this site uses

Every result on the first page for this town is a business selling its own trips, plus two aggregators and a forum thread. None of that establishes which boat is best, and neither would a list assembled here from the same sources.
